Our friends at behäppi from Estonia have expanded their series of challenging wooden puzzles with these wonderful new planet puzzles .

So if you are fascinated by the galaxy, the solar system or the planets, then this is definitely something for you!

Uranus is the seventh planet from the Sun and has the third largest diameter in our solar system. With a radius of 25,362 kilometers, Uranus is four times as wide as the Earth. If the Earth were a large apple, Uranus would be the size of a basketball. Uranus is about 2.9 billion kilometers away from the Sun. At this distance, sunlight takes 2 hours and 40 minutes to travel from the Sun to Uranus.

Uranus was the first planet to be discovered using a telescope. It was discovered in 1781 by astronomer William Herschel, although he initially thought it was a comet or a star. It was not until two years later that the object was generally recognized as a new planet, thanks in part to observations by astronomer Johann Elert Bode. Uranus formed as the rest of the solar system was forming, about 4.5 billion years ago, when gravity pulled swirling gas and dust together to form this ice giant. Like its neighbor Neptune, Uranus probably formed closer to the sun and moved into the outer solar system about 4 billion years ago.

Uranus is a very cold and windy ice giant. Most (80% or more) of the planet's mass is a hot, dense liquid of "icy" materials - water, methane, and ammonia - over a small rocky core. Near the core, the liquid heats up to 4982 °C.

Uranus gets its blue-green color from the methane gas in its atmosphere. Sunlight penetrates the atmosphere and is reflected by the clouds. The methane gas absorbs the red part of the light, resulting in a blue-green color.

The ice giant Uranus is surrounded by 13 faint rings and 27 small moons because it rotates at an angle of almost 90 degrees to the plane of its orbit. This unique tilt makes Uranus appear to turn on its side and orbit the Sun like a rolling ball. Uranus takes about 17 hours to complete one rotation (one Uranus day) and about 84 Earth years to orbit the Sun (one Uranus year).

Uranus is the only planet whose equator is nearly perpendicular to its orbit, with a tilt of 97.77 degrees - possibly the result of a collision with an Earth-sized object long ago. This unique tilt results in the most extreme seasons in the solar system. For nearly a quarter of each Uranus year, the sun shines directly on the two poles, while the other half of the planet falls into a 21-year-long, dark winter.

Uranus is also one of only two planets that rotate in the opposite direction to most other planets (Venus is the other), namely east to west.

Uranus has no real surface. The planet is made up mostly of swirling fluids. While a spaceship wouldn't be able to land anywhere on Uranus, it also couldn't fly through its atmosphere unscathed. The extreme pressures and temperatures would destroy a metal spaceship.

This 49-piece 20cm puzzle shows Uranus in stunning clarity. The image, provided by NASA, is one of the clearest images of Uranus ever.

The difficulty level of this puzzle is high. Although the puzzle is challenging, the clear and high-quality illustration makes this Uranus puzzle a lot of fun to put together.

All Behäppi puzzles are handmade in Estonia from high-quality FSC-certified birch plywood.
